Help & Frequently Asked Questions
What does Sublytics do?
Sublytics tracks your recurring subscriptions in ₹, logs how much you actually use them, and shows the true cost-per-use — so you can cancel what isn't worth it. You also get renewal reminders, free-trial alerts, spending analytics, and AI-powered savings insights.
How do I add my subscriptions?
Fastest way: go to Subscriptions → Add Subscription and pick from 100+ pre-loaded Indian plans (Netflix, JioCinema, Hotstar, Spotify, and more) — plan name, price, and billing cycle are filled in for you. You can also add manually, or bulk-import from the Subscriptions page using CSV Import.
What is cost-per-use and how do I track it?
Cost-per-use = what you pay ÷ how much you actually use the service in a billing cycle. ₹649 for Netflix means nothing until you know you watched 3 movies (₹216 per movie!). Log usage from the Quick Log panel on the Dashboard or the Usage page — each log takes a few seconds, and the dashboard grades each subscription A–F for value. On a subscription’s detail page you can also log multiple uses at once for last week, month, or year.
What is quota tracking (for AI and limited plans)?
Some plans are about an allowance — messages, requests, images, GB, credits — not how many times you opened the app. When you add or edit a subscription, choose usage tracking: Events (count uses), Quota (% of allowance), or Both. For quota, set a limit (e.g. 100 messages), unit, and when it resets (billing cycle, calendar month, etc.). On the detail page you can mark Fully used, set a %, add units used, or set a total. Sublytics shows remaining allowance and how fully you used the plan — great for ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, and similar tools. Existing event-based plans are unchanged.
Events vs Quota vs Both — which should I pick?
Events: streaming, gym, food delivery — log each use for cost-per-use grades. Quota: AI and capped SaaS — track how much of your included allowance you burned. Both (Hybrid): you want session logs for cost-per-use and a separate bar for allowance %. You can switch anytime in Edit without losing history.
What do the A–F grades mean (my waste score)?
Every subscription is graded from its true cost-per-use in the current billing cycle: A = ₹25 or less per use (excellent value), B = up to ₹75 (good), C = up to ₹150 (fair), D = up to ₹300 (poor), F = over ₹300 per use (very poor — you're paying a lot for each use). Example: ₹199/month for Netflix, watched 4 times = ~₹50 per movie night → grade B. An F doesn't mean 'bad subscription' — it means 'use it more, downgrade, or cancel it'. The big grade on the Dashboard is a spend-weighted average of all your subscriptions, so your most expensive ones move it most. Grades update as you log usage. Quota % is a separate signal and does not replace A–F grades.
How do I pause or cancel a subscription in Sublytics?
Open the subscription’s detail page. Under Status, tap Active, Pause, or Cancelled — no need to open Edit. This only updates your Sublytics tracking (e.g. stop counting a paused plan in “active spend”). It does not cancel the real service with Netflix, your bank, or UPI — use the provider’s cancel link if Sublytics shows one.
How can I sort my subscriptions?
On the Subscriptions page, use the sort dropdown. Options include: recently added, name, cost high/low, renewal soonest, billing frequency (weekly → lifetime), and usage frequency (most/least used, based on your logged uses). Cards also show total uses when usage data is available.
How do renewal reminders work?
Sublytics checks your subscriptions daily and creates a reminder when a renewal is within your reminder window (default: 3 days before, adjustable per subscription up to 30 days). Renewal dates roll forward automatically each cycle, so reminders keep working after every renewal. You receive reminders in three places: in the app (Reminders page), as push notifications, and by email — enable the channels you want in Settings.
I'm not getting notifications. What should I check?
1) Open the subscription and confirm Reminders is enabled. 2) In Settings, turn on Push Notifications and/or Email Notifications. 3) For push, allow notifications when your browser asks. 4) Reminders fire only within the reminder window before a renewal — the Reminders page's 'Upcoming renewals' section always shows what's next.
How do free-trial alerts work?
When adding or editing a subscription, tick 'This is a free trial' and set the trial end date. Sublytics alerts you before the first charge — on the dashboard, in Reminders, and via push/email if enabled — so you can cancel in time. Trial alerts fire even if renewal reminders are turned off for that subscription.
Will Sublytics cancel a subscription for me?
No — Sublytics shows you what to cancel and why, but cancellation always happens with the provider (Netflix, your bank, UPI app, etc.). Each subscription can store its management URL so the cancel page is one tap away.
How do I sign in?
You can sign in with Google, or create an email + password account (verify with a code we email you). Forgot password and change password are available for email accounts. Google-only users can set a password later in Settings so they can sign in either way.
Is my financial data private?
Yes. Sign-in uses Google and/or email — we never read your Gmail or contacts beyond what you grant for sign-in. Your data lives in a secure Firestore database on Google Cloud, is never sold, and is only touched server-side. AI insights (optional, can be disabled in Settings) send anonymized spending summaries to the AI provider — never your email or identity. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Can I export or back up my data?
Yes — the Subscriptions page has CSV Export for a full backup of all your subscriptions, and CSV Import to restore or bulk-add. Export before deleting your account if you want a personal copy.
How much does Sublytics cost?
Sublytics is free during the beta. If paid plans are introduced later, they'll be announced in advance — and one saved renewal typically pays for itself.
How does the invite & gems program work?
Open Invite & Gems in the sidebar (or Settings → Invite friends). Copy your personal invite link or code and share it. When a friend signs up with your code, verifies their email (or uses Google), and adds at least one subscription, you both earn gems — you get more as the referrer, they get a smaller welcome amount. Invites stay Pending until those steps are done. You cannot use your own code.
When do I receive gems for a referral?
Not at bare signup. Gems are credited only after the invited person verifies their account and creates at least one subscription in Sublytics. That proves real product use and reduces empty or fake accounts. After that, both balances update and the invite shows as Qualified on your Invite & Gems page.
Do gems have cash value? Can I withdraw them?
No. Gems have no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, sold, or transferred between people. They are in-app credits for future Pro / advanced features (for example extra plan time or AI limits when those plans launch). Economics may change; the product will show current balances and any redeem options in-app.
What if someone signs up with my link but never adds a subscription?
The invite stays Pending and no gems are paid. Once they verify and add a subscription, both of you are rewarded automatically (or on the next daily check). There is also a monthly limit on how many successful referral rewards one account can earn, to keep the program fair.
What happens to gems if an account is deleted?
While an account is scheduled for deletion, gems are frozen (no new rewards or spending). If the invited friend deletes their account soon after you were rewarded, we may reverse those referral gems (clawback) within a short window. When the account is permanently deleted after 30 days, unspent gems are removed with the rest of the data and cannot be recovered.
How do I delete my account and data?
Go to Settings → Delete account. Type DELETE to confirm (and your password if you use email sign-in). Your account is deactivated immediately and you are signed out. All subscriptions, usage logs, reminders, and settings are scheduled for permanent deletion after 30 days. After that, the data cannot be recovered. Unspent gems are frozen and removed with the account.
Can I cancel account deletion and restore my data?
Yes — only within the 30-day recovery window. Sign in again (Google or email), then open Restore account and choose Cancel deletion & restore. After 30 days (or once permanent deletion has run), restoration is no longer possible.
What happens after the 30-day deletion window?
A scheduled server job permanently removes your account and all associated data from our systems. That includes subscriptions, usage history, reminders, push device registrations, and settings. Permanent deletion cannot be undone. You may register again later with the same email, but that creates a new empty account — old data will not come back.
Is account deletion safe from abuse?
Deletion only applies to the account you are signed into. We require typing DELETE (and your password for email accounts), and we rate-limit repeated attempts. Soft-deleted accounts stop receiving renewal/usage notification emails and push. We keep a minimal audit record (without your full data) for security and support.
